MY Christmas Must Haves.

Been seeing a lot of "must have" lists going around, and call me a scrouge, but Christmas time just makes me sick. In my experience, it is based solely on consumerism, all hiding in the face of Santa or.. ahem.. Jesus.

I call bull shit dookey.

My family does the Christmas exchanges too, but it's my least favorite part of the holiday.. In fact, I hate it... and that's pretty well known around my house.

My Christmas wishlist is as follows.

MORE OF THIS:

...and less of this:

MORE OF THIS:

...and less of this:

MORE OF THIS:
 and this...

and less of this!

More of this....

....and none of this:

 MORE OF THIS:

....and WAY less of this:

A LOT MORE OF THIS!<3

....and in exchange, lets not be tolerant of things like this:
 this....
and this....

and last but not least...

A LOT MORE OF THIS!

....and I don't know about you, but I am tired of my friends, family, neighbors and fellow citizens coming home like this:

It's one thing to want to surprise your family with nice gifts-- it's another to spend an entire season stressing over what you want, and what to give others. If we all put a little more effort into making this world a little better, more tolerate, healthier and greener; then maybe we wouldn't want so many things to distract us from the natural beauty of being human and living on this magnificent planet.

My challenge to you, dear readers, is to spend more time enjoying your family, than impressing them. More time taking care of the planet, than contributing to the garbage. And a lot more time trying to get to know your neighbors, members of other faiths and all walks of life-- You will be surprised where you find beauty.

Namaste!

  2. Argghh so true, I hate christmas shoppers and the crowds and the waste etc. Maybe it has to do with the fact I worked in retail for five years and seen all the crazyness. Having said that...i still love christmas ;).

  4. Very well said. I find that I have this bad habit of tending to check out at Christmas and try to avoid people because of all the emphasis on gift giving. I'm trying not to do this year and keep focused on what's important.
