Gifts for Quirky Folks.

Here are my Quirky folk gift picks for any occasion.

(Click on the link to see a video of how the ball works).
First and foremost, I love the work of Roger von Oech; The ball of whacks comes with a 96 pg mini book filled with exercises and activities to get the creative juices flowing. What I love about this product is how it really takes me back to a time where I didn't have to think so hard about the creative process; playing with the ball, maneuvering the shapes, and figuring out new ways to put the pieces together is rather meditative, and incredibly useful for the creative process. This is a great gift for teens and adults who like to think outside the box.

This is a 64 card deck with 4 different suits; Explorer, Artist, Judge, and Warrior. Each is designed to stimulate different creative/thinking strategies. The deck boosts creative thinking, stimulates out-of-the-box thinking, helps the user gain some outside-unbiased perspective on creative problem solving and is just plain fun to use, it also comes with a how-to-booklet and several exercises to get you started .
R and I use the deck like it is a creative bible. This is another great gift for teens and adults.

The Art of Seeing
by Aldous Huxley
This is a really wonderful book about the controversial Bates method to improving eye sight and how it worked for Mr. Huxley. The perspective it gives one on seeing is quite interesting, and this is a great read for anyone who is trying to improve their eyesight, Huxley lovers, info junkies or new perspective seekers.

Brian Greene Books
I love Brian Greene books. LOVE them. His writing can be a little heady at times, and occasionally some of the ideas are so far beyond me that I feel like I am sinking in quicksand; but at the end of the day Brian Greene makes really complex quantum & universal arcane theories easier and even enjoyable to understand.
He has 4 books: The Elegant Universe ('99), The Fabric of the Cosmos ('05), The Hidden Reality ('11) and Icarus at the Edge of Time ('08 Sci-Fi)

{btw, Chuck Klosterman Books are great geek gifts too!}

Tribes by Seth Godin
 I love to give this book to friends because it inspires people to want to become leaders. It's a simple read and leaves you with a lot of confidence to become a leader of your own tribe. The book has a lot of mixed reviews, however.. I think if you are looking to inspire or be inspired then the book is great. This would be a great gift for a friend who loves to blog (or for yourself), a boss, disgruntled coworker, dad, mom... anyone who loves a quick inspirational read.

{If someone gets this, I must know about it.}

We were gifted this Dali Melting Clock for our engagement..
